Construction on Florida Street ADA Project Planned to Minimize Impacts

Construction on the Florida Street ADA Compliance Project is underway with the successful bidder, Triumph Construction, a small minority-owned business based in Baton Rouge. The city-parish issued the notice-to-proceed for January 3, 2023, and MOVEBR program managers are working with the contractor to minimize impacts to parade routes during the busy Mardi Gras season.

This project has the potential to impact churches, hotels, restaurants, small businesses and downtown restaurants so the MOVEBR team is working closely with the Downtown Development District (DDD) staff by providing monthly updates at its board meetings and reviewing the project boundaries to schedule work-around downtown events.

The repairs include building 600 square yards of improved sidewalks and 688 square yards of repaired driveways, 29 ADA-compliant ramps and installing 29 audible, pedestrian pushbuttons and building one new mid-block crossing on Convention Street.

The construction duration will be four to five months.
