Featured Project: MacHost Road (LA 64 to Pride Port Hudson)

Zachary Mayor David Amrhein and Mayor-Broome

Long-awaited improvements to MacHost Road in Zachary are closer to becoming reality as this project moves into the right-of-way acquisition phase with design plans presented at a public open house on June 24th. Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, Zachary Mayor David Amrhein and other local officials were on hand as residents and property owners got the first look at the designs for improving MacHost Road.

This project proposes to improve existing conditions along MacHost Road including alignment, sight distance, shoulders and drainage. The MacHost Road project is being designed under the ownership of the City of Zachary.

Safety Improvements include “flattening” sharp curves in the roadway alignment, widening travel lanes to 11 feet, adding 8-foot paved shoulders, and providing safer roadway side slopes off the edge of pavement.

Drainage Improvements include wider roadside ditches, additional drainage structures, increasing existing drainage structure sizes, and removal and replacement of an existing single span bridge with a new multi-barrel box culvert.

The design consultants for this project are Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC).
