I’m pleased to announce our MOVEBR program has completed 21 ADA construction projects, including repairing more than 13 miles of sidewalks to make it easier and safer for people of all abilities to move around. These upgrades are part of our Community Enhancement Projects and include improvements such as wheelchair ramps, wider sidewalks, audible pedestrian signals, crosswalk striping, and more.
The projects addressed 2,693 barriers to access, upgraded 192 intersections, added 903 ADA-compliant ramps and repaired 31,431 square yards of sidewalk—equivalent to nearly 13.4 miles of four-foot-wide sidewalk. You can read the entire message here.

Construction Underway on Nicholson Drive

Construction has begun on the Nicholson Drive Segment 1 (Brightside - Gourrier) Project. Nicholson Drive serves thousands of motorists each day, including residents, commuters and business travelers, as well as university students, staff, and visitors. Once complete, the project will improve traffic operations, increase safety for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians, and enhance access throughout the area while helping reduce the congestion that has historically affected the corridor during major events. Construction Kicks Off on Goodwood Boulevard Sidewalks and Bike Paths Project

The MOVEBR Team gathered with City-Parish leaders on April 27 for a groundbreaking ceremony launching construction activities for the Old Hammond Highway Project.
Construction kicked off this month on the MOVEBR Goodwood Boulevard Sidewalks and Bike Paths Project from Airline Highway to Sharp Road. This project will strengthen safety, access, and neighborhood connectivity in the Broadmoor neighborhood. You can read more about this project here.

S. Flannery Road Closed for Bridge Reconstruction
|

S. Flannery Road is now closed between Old Hammond Highway and Goodwood Boulevard for work on the Old Hammond Highway Segment 1 Phase A Project. The closure began on September 29 and allows for the safe demolition of the existing bridge and the building of a new bridge. It is a complete closure of this roadway section; motorists will need to use an alternative route until further notice. You can read more about this project here.

| MOVEBR Providing Game Day Construction Updates for LSU and SU Fans |

To help LSU and Southern University football fans plan their game day travel, the MOVEBR program is posting weekly construction updates for three LSU area projects and one project at the gateway to the Southern campus. Messages with construction expectations for game day are posted on MOVEBR social media by Wednesday when either or both universities host a home football game. They are also geo-fenced to reach anyone who drives within a broad area around the projects. You can read more here.
