A Message from the Mayor: Our New Division of Supplier Diversity is Good for the Local Economy
East Baton Rouge Parish is moving forward to create a more level playing field for all businesses and keep our local economy strong, and I have challenged the MOVEBR Program team to lead the way. The Metro Council voted unanimously to approve our proposed Division of Supplier Diversity that will, for the first time, certify minority, woman and veteran-owned small businesses and set individual project goals for participation based on availability in market sectors. In-person Public Meetings Are Back!
After 15 months of engaging the public virtually, the MOVEBR Program is back to holding in-person meetings. These meetings will be held for various projects throughout the parish. Sign up to be alerted for a project near you and read more about what is being planned.
Featured Project: MacHost Road (LA 64 to Pride Port Hudson)
Long-awaited improvements to MacHost Road in Zachary are closer to becoming reality as this project moves into the right-of-way acquisition phase with design plans presented at a public open house on June 24th. Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, Zachary Mayor David Amrhein and other local officials were on hand as residents and property owners got the first look at the designs for improving MacHost Road. Mid City Stakeholders Discuss Corridor Enhancement Projects
The MOVEBR Program team convened more than 50 Mid City stakeholders in April to discuss projects that will make improvements to key corridors. The MOVEBR Program managers presented an overview of the North Boulevard, Florida Boulevard and Bus Rapid Transit projects and led discussion with property owners, health care providers, business owners, bike safety advocates, representatives of BREC, Mid City Redevelopment Alliance, CATS and others interested in these projects.
