We just kicked off construction on improvements to the Perkins Road Overpass district, a popular shopping, dining and gathering spot for surrounding neighborhoods. The first phase of this work will include building a path so residents on the Hundred Oaks side of the overpass can walk or bike to the commercial area.
The project also includes lighting, landscaping and safety improvements, including an improved railroad crossing and improvements to the parking areas. You can read the entire message here.

Featured Project: Terrace Avenue Complete Street Improvements Get Underway

The Terrace Avenue (Highland Road to Perkins Road) Corridor Improvements project is under construction with plans to transform the corridor into a Complete Street that safely accommodates all users while maintaining neighborhood character and access. Mayor-President Sid Edwards and local officials held a groundbreaking at Carver Branch Library recently to kick off construction.
The project proposes to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility and crossing safety by improving the existing corridor to better accommodate access needs in this area. The project includes sidewalk, pedestrian crosswalk and roadway improvements. You can read more about this project here.

Groundbreaking Marks Major Milestone for Old Hammond Highway Project

The MOVEBR Team gathered with City-Parish leaders on April 27 for a groundbreaking ceremony launching construction activities for the Old Hammond Highway Project.
The ceremony marked the beginning of work on Segment 1 Phase A and Segment 2 of the corridor improvements. The broader Old Hammond Highway initiative is designed to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, modernize drainage infrastructure, and add new pedestrian and bicycle accommodations along the heavily traveled east-west corridor. Groundbreaking Kicks Off Improvements on Scenic Highway at Gateway to Southern University

Mayor-President Sid Edwards was joined by state and local officials to kick off construction on the MOVEBR Scenic Highway (Harding Blvd. to Swan Ave.) Corridor Improvements Project. This groundbreaking begins the first of three projects to enhance the busy area near the gates of Southern University, with a focus on safety. The Scenic Highway project includes sidewalk improvements, roadway improvements and signal upgrades. It will resurface the roadway between Harding and Swan and construct a new signalized pedestrian crosswalk on Scenic Highway near Fairchild. You can read more about this project here.

| Imagination Way Project Advances Toward Construction |

Significant progress will soon be visible on ‘Imagination Way”, an impactful MOVEBR project connecting Ardenwood Drive and Lobdell Boulevard. The project aims to improve local mobility, provide additional neighborhood access and support future growth in the corridor.
This area includes several exciting developments like the upcoming YWCA and the newly built Cypress at Ardenwood neighborhood and will allow easier access to the Ardendale campus of Baton Rouge Community College. You can read more about this project here.
