The MOVEBR program is hosting a Roadshow during the month of October in four locations across the parish to update the community about ongoing and upcoming projects. The series kicked off on Monday, October 7 with its first stop at the North Baton Rouge Rising Resource Fair at the McKay Automotive Technology Center on the BRCC Ardendale campus.

The goal of the Roadshow is to highlight the successes of the program and provide updates on projects in various areas throughout the parish. Additionally, the program seeks to educate the public on the process it takes for roadway projects to come to a reality. There are various stages to the lifecycle of a project, and this is an opportunity to learn more about that process and where projects are in that process.

The program has had several accomplishments

  • Over 100 active MOVEBR projects – in pre-construction or construction
  • 30 projects completed
  • Approximately 90% of the dollars spent in the MOVEBR program have gone to East Baton Rouge Parish companies – this means 9 out of every 10 dollars spent has been reinvesting in the local economy.
  • Exceeded the 20% participation target for doing business with minority-, woman- and veteran-owned businesses.
  • Installation of one of the most connected traffic signal systems in America – with every signal connected to a central traffic management center. This helps in responding to emergencies, adjust for major events and help keep your commute times consistent.

The roadshow will also provide information on the program’s small business outreach initiative. This was a key element of the program to engage small, minority, woman, and veteran owned businesses.

The public is invited to attend any one of the remaining events and get more information about projects in their area or throughout the parish. Find a list of remaining events here.
