Community Gets Look at Scenic Highway Corridor Improvements Project

Southern University students, area business owners and residents turned out to see proposed improvements to Scenic Highway at a September open house held at the Scotlandville Branch Library.

The Scenic Highway Corridor Improvements Project proposes to enhance pedestrian, transit, and bicycle safety and mobility by improving the existing infrastructure between Harding Boulevard and Swan Avenue.

Drainage and access management improvements are also a priority along the corridor, along with railroad crossing improvements. Landscaping, lighting and green infrastructure improvements will also be considered.

City-Parish officials and the project team answered questions and accepted public comments on the proposed design concepts. Exhibits from the open house can be viewed and comments submitted to the project team here.
