MOVEBR in the Community

The MOVEBR program participated in several community events in recent months, including the Park Forest Resource Fair, District 5 community meeting, the Connecting East Baton Rouge Neighborhood Convention 2024, and a District 1 community meeting. These events provided unique opportunities to provide valuable information to various stakeholders and communities in non-traditional settings.
Information presented focused on educating the public on various processes, such as right-of-way acquisition, expectations during construction, using website tools, and how to stay engaged with the program and receive updates.
The Park Forest Resource Fair and EBR Neighborhood Convention, both hosted by the Office of Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, brought several organizations and City-Parish departments together to connect with the community providing information on services, resources, and an opportunity to respond to citizens inquiries in real-time. The MOVEBR team provided information and materials on area projects and on-site interface with the interactive project dashboard and map.
Meetings hosted by District 5 Councilman Darryl Hurst & District 1 Councilman Brandon Noel included information on the Mickens Road, Rollins Road and MacHost Road projects respectively. Improvements include increases in lane capacity and complete street elements that will provide better connectivity and multi-modal transit options for these communities. The Program team, joined by Mayor Broome and Fred Raiford, EBR Director of Transportation and Drainage, were able to provide updates on the community’s concerns which included right-of-way acquisition and project timelines.
These events were also aligned with the Program’s overall communication objectives, which ensures stakeholders are continually engaged throughout the lifecycle of the projects.
