Picardy-Perkins Connector/Mall of Louisiana Blvd. in Construction
Construction is happening on new capacity projects. The Picardy-Perkins Connector/Mall of Louisiana Blvd. is one of the new roadways being built by the MOVEBR Program. This new road will provide an alternative route to Bluebonnet Blvd., connecting Perkins Road to Mall of LA Blvd., and ultimately, I-10.
The Picardy-Perkins Connector, soon to be known as the Mall of Louisiana Blvd., is one of 70 capacity projects beginning construction. This project is a new four-lane road with a shared use path on one side for pedestrians and cyclists. The roadway will provide passage under the railroad track prior to connecting with the existing Mall of Louisiana Ring Road to the north and will connect with Perkins Road behind Perkins Rowe to the south. The project also includes a connection to Backcourt Drive, providing an alternative way to access the Dunham School.
The project, currently in the construction phase, will also consist of a barrier wall adjacent to the Wimbledon Estates neighborhood. The estimated completion date is late 2022.
One of the key construction features of this project is the de-bundling of the phases to ensure the program meets its Small Business Outreach aspirations. In September 2020, bids were solicited for a clearing and grubbing package with plans to solicit bids for the construction of the mainline bridge in Q4 2020.
