Mayor Broome Opens Safer Ben Hur Road Intersection

MOVEBR Program holds ribbon cutting for Ben Hur Road Project

On Wednesday, November 29th, Mayor-President Broome and the MOVEBR Program Management Team celebrated the newly realigned Ben Hur Road ribbon cutting at Nicholson Drive. This event ceremonially marked the roadway being opened to traffic.

This project consisted of realigning Ben Hur to create a safer intersection at Nicholson Drive in preparation for its widening. The new roadway has two 12-foot travel lanes, 5-foot shoulders on both sides and a new railroad crossing with signals and crossing arms. This project was designed by Forte & Tablada, environmental permitting and construction inspection was completed by Sustainable Design Solutions and constructed by Omega Foundation Services. There was collaboration between the city-parish, Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development, Louisiana State University, CN Railroad, and the pipeline companies to get this project completed.
