South Choctaw Drive Ribbon-Cutting

On Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, the MOVEBR Program hosted the ribbon-cutting for the South Choctaw (Flannery – Central Thruway) capacity roadway improvements. The project consisted of widening the roadway from two lanes to four 12’ lanes for a 1.1-mile stretch. This makes South Choctaw four lanes from Airline Hwy to the Central Thruway. The improvements include the installation of roadway lighting, subsurface drainage and pervious sidewalks on both sides of the roadway. Learn more about the project here. The MOVEBR program is installing pervious concrete on sidewalk projects for capacity and community enhancement projects as a best practice model to help manage stormwater and reduce local flooding.
