ADA Improvements
ADA improvements refer to modifications or enhancements made to buildings, facilities, and public spaces to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Bid Date
The date that construction bids are opened. The Bid Date is sometimes also referred to as the Letting Date.

Call for Projects
"Call for Projects" is short for the $49 million "Future Community Enhancement Call for Projects" pot of money of the MOVEBR Program. These projects are to be identified through various applications from the communities and Districts. These projects may include such enhancement aspects as sidewalks, bike lanes/paths, road repair, ditch and drainage improvements, lighting, and landscaping.

Capacity Projects
Represent new roadways or existing roadways / intersections where additional lane capacity and increased turning lane capacity will be constructed to increase the volume capacity of the roadway.

Clearing and Grubbing
The construction process of removing all vegetation and obstacles on the land's surface where future construction or utility relocations are to take place.

Community Enhancement Projects
Types of projects for existing roadways that may be improved with resurfacing, repairing, enclosing drainage ditches, lighting, curbs, sidewalks, or landscaping.

Construction Procurement
The process of acquiring a licensed construction contractor in accordance with public bid law.

Corridor Improvement Projects
Types of projects on existing roadway corridors that will be reconstructed in order to provide resurfacing, access management, signal synchronization, turning lane improvements, ADA compliance features, cycling paths, or sidewalks.

Depressed Roadway
Roadway typically constructed below the elevation of adjacent streets, allowing surface roads to pass over via bridges or overpasses.

Engineering Procurement
The process of acquiring engineers or engineering firms. This process can include public advertising, a selection process, fee negotiations, and then contracting.

Grade Separation
A civil engineering method used in transportation planning to align two or more transportation routes at different vertical levels (grades), so they do not interfere with each other’s traffic flow when they intersect.

Grubbing
Grubbing is the process that follows clearing and involves the removal of roots, stumps, and other underground vegetative obstacles.

Letting
Letting refers to the procedure by which government agencies invite contractors to submit bids on the Bid Date/Letting Date for construction projects. This process is sometimes also referred to as Construction Advertisement.

NTP
An NTP (or "notice to proceed") is a formal legal document from the owner to the contractor that authorizes the contractor to begin work on a project.

Request for Qualifications (RFQ)
Procurement process to solicit price quotes from suppliers or consultants for specific services. It is a formal invitation to propose that provides detailed information about the requirements of the qualifying information that should be submitted.

Right of Way Acquisition
Right of Way (ROW) Acquisition involves obtaining the legal right to use a specific portion of land for public infrastructure projects. This land is typically needed for building roads, highways, railways, pipelines, or utility lines.

Servitude
It refers to the right to limited use of a piece of land or other immovable property without possessing it.

Refers to a temporary highway detour or temporary construction project.

Signalization/Synchronization
Signalization/Synchronization represents Equipment/Software updates to the Advanced Traffic Management Center facility and upgrading over 400 existing traffic signals throughout the Parish with increased fiber connectivity and uninterruptable power supplies.

Topographic Survey
A type of survey that measures and maps the elevation, shape, and features of a specific piece of land. This survey captures both natural features like hills, valleys, rivers, and trees, and man-made structures such as buildings, roads, and utility lines.

Utility Relocation
Process where utility companies relocate or adjust their existing utilities to accommodate future construction.
