Bus Rapid Transit Project Construction Active on Florida and Plank

The Plank/Nicholson Bus Rapid Transit Project continues to make progress with ongoing work on Plank Road and Florida Boulevard. Pending approval by DOTD, in-ground bus pad work is anticipated to begin later this summer on Nicholson Drive. When complete, BRapid transit service will connect Plank Road to a new North Transit Center on Airline Highway and to Downtown and South Baton Rouge.

On Florida Boulevard, the contractor is finishing work westbound toward I-110 and will then move to the eastbound side and continue work towards 22nd Street. On Plank Road, from Evangeline Street to Erie Street, work will be completed soon on the southbound outside lane with signal and electrical work ongoing.

BRapid will be a high-quality rapid transit bus service operated by CATS. This MOVEBR project was developed in partnership with CATS, DOTD, Build Baton Rouge and the Federal Transit Administration.
