Two contractors have been awarded contracts to begin construction on MOVEBR Capacity projects. Phases of both Jones Creek Road and Mall of Louisiana Boulevard will be under construction by January 2026 with these awards. Both projects are part of a broader initiative to enhance traffic flow in the St. George area.
The fourth phase of the Mall of Louisiana Blvd. project was awarded to Denley Brown Contractors on June 25, 2025. This phase of the project will create an opportunity for a depressed roadway for a new grade-separated railroad crossing. This phase includes a grade-separated railroad bridge and shoofly during construction and a drainage pump station to support the new underpass during significant rain events, with completion expected by Q4 2027.
When all phases of the project are complete, the new route will offer an alternative to Bluebonnet Boulevard and Siegen Lane Between Perkins Road and the interstate. The Notice to Proceed was issued in August. The contractor is currently in the assembly period and is projected to mobilize in November 2025. The project is being coordinated with the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway (CPKC) Railroad.
The Jones Creek Road clearing and grubbing contract, awarded in June 2025, is scheduled to begin field operations in October of this year following utility relocations. This phase of the project will prepare the corridor for upcoming roadway construction and will include the removal of trees and other structures within the project right of way, earthwork to include bringing in additional dirt to build to proper elevations, and a settlement period to ensure the ground meets the proper compaction.
