Mid City Stakeholders Discuss Corridor Enhancement Projects

The MOVEBR Program team convened more than 50 Mid City stakeholders in April to discuss projects that will make improvements to key corridors. The MOVEBR Program managers presented an overview of the North Boulevard, Florida Boulevard and Bus Rapid Transit projects and led discussion with property owners, health care providers, business owners, bike safety advocates, representatives of BREC, Mid City Redevelopment Alliance, CATS and others interested in these projects.

The discussion also included the design teams for all three projects who listened to the concerns and priorities of the stakeholders.

Jolie Maberry, MOVEBR Program project manager for these projects, reviewed the boundaries, scope and schedules for Florida Boulevard Segment 1, which has merged with the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project from I-110 to 22nd Street; Florida Boulevard Segment 2 from 22nd Street to Airline Highway, and North Boulevard from I-110 to N. Foster and along N. Foster between North Boulevard and Florida.

The discussion included previous and ongoing studies that can offer insight to the design teams, projects underway or anticipated on these corridors, drainage concerns, safety issues and stakeholders’ vision for the corridors.

The MOVEBR Program Managers anticipate additional meetings with these stakeholders to assure input is gathered throughout the study process.
