MOVEBR Breaks Ground on Old Hammond Highway

The city of Baton Rouge is pleased to announce that a groundbreaking ceremony took place Monday, April 27th at 9:30am on the MOVEBR Old Hammond Highway Project, Segment 1 Phase A and Segment 2. Fred Raiford, Director of Transportation and Drainage addressed the crowd before ceremonial  turning of dirt, commencing construction on this exciting project.

This impactful work widens Old Hammond Highway from Millerville to O'Neal to four lanes, adds shared use paths for pedestrians and cyclists on both sides of the road, and replaces the bridge on Flannery Rd. Travelers in this corridor can expect a safer commute that is easier to navigate.

Later the project will introduce Phase B, which will create a roundabout for further traffic congestion mitigation.
