MOVEBR Florida Blvd. Corridor Enhancement Groundbreaking

Mayor-President Sid Edwards, DOTD Secretary Glenn Ledet, and other officials officially broke ground on April 9, 2026, on the MOVEBR Florida Boulevard Corridor Enhancement Project.
This major initiative is focused on improving safety and accessibility for everyone using Florida Boulevard, which is recognized as one of Baton Rouge’s busiest and most accident-prone corridors.
The project, known as the Florida Boulevard Corridor Enhancement Project, Segment 2, will upgrade the corridor from N. 22nd Street to Airline Highway. Parish and State officials emphasized that safety is the top priority for this project. The enhancements are designed to make commute times more reliable and driving safer by incorporating signal upgrades, fresh pavement, and dedicated paths for bicycles and pedestrians—helping keep everyone off the road and out of harm’s way.
Hard Rock Construction is the contractor for this project, with Forte and Tablada serving as design consultants.
