Perkins Road Overpass Project Page

Project Description: This project will provide safe connectivity for bicyclists and pedestrians from residential communities on the north side of Perkins railroad overpass to the lively Merchant District. The project will include enhancements such as a multi-use path, low maintenance landscaping and tree canopy, lighting, minor drainage improvements, and delineated parking spaces.

Date Status
07/2026 Construction NTP starts 7/13/26.
05/2026 Contractor Selection underway and being finalized for introduction and Contract execution.
04/2026 100% submittal PMT Review complete. Bid Documents complete and preparing for construction advertisement.
01/2026 100% submittal PMT Review complete. Bid Documents under review and preparing for construction advertisement.
11/2025 100% submittal under PMT review. Preparing project for construction advertisement.
10/2025 Design Consultant is now working on the 100% Final Plan submittal and coordinating with KCS RR. Entergy utility relocations are now complete. KCS RR is anticipated to begin construction of pedestrian crossing pad prior to the end of 2025.
07/2025 Entergy began work to relocate utilities in the area. Parking is restricted in the barricaded areas.
06/2025 Design Consultant is now working on the 100% Final Plan submittal and coordinating with KCS RR. Utility relocations to begin in July.
08/2023 This project was selected under the 2022 Call for Projects request and was approved by Metro Council in January 2023.
