Active Construction Projects Near LSU
The MOVEBR program is providing construction updates on three important projects under construction in the LSU area to help residents and the LSU community plan their travel. Nicholson Dr Segment 1 (Brightside - Gourrier) Project
Nicholson Drive Segment (Brightside Drive to Gourrier Avenue)
- A groundbreaking was held for this project on August 12, 2026.
- Clearing and grubbing and utility relocations will begin in preparation for construction that will include widening Nicholson Drive to four lanes and building bicycle lanes and pedestrian paths to improve safety, efficiency and connectivity on this important and heavily traveled corridor.
Terrace Ave (Highland Rd - Perkins Rd) Project
Terrace Ave (Highland Rd - Perkins Rd) Project
- Roadway construction is underway, with milling completed between Highland Road and Eddie Robinson Drive.
- Continued lane closures are expected during weekday construction operations.
- The project team is working with the contractor to minimize impacts during LSU game days.

- Construction activities are underway.
- Excavation work continues throughout the project area.
- Coordination with business owners is ongoing to maintain public access.
- The adjacent parking lot remains open to the public providing free parking.
- Businesses remain open as usual during construction.
